Chronological Resume Guide
The Chronological Resume is one that displays information basically in chronological order.
- NAME
- ADDRESS (Local)
- TELEPHONE (Day and Evening)
- JOB OBJECTIVE
- EXPERIENCE
This section usually follows the job objective and should include for each position:
- Dates of employment (most recent first)
- Title of position held
- Name of organization
- Brief description of the position including duties that support job objective
- Leaving or beginning and leaving salary, if salary history is requested
Repeat this procedure for each job held.
Consider the gaps in your work history. Will such gaps leave questions in an employer's mind? How will you answer questions regarding gaps?
- EDUCATION
Recent graduates may place this information immediately after statement of job objective. Also, recent graduates may include some elaboration on training, extra-curricular activities, and organizational membership or involvement that apply to the job objective. (Information about education should include degree obtained, major and minor, and name and location of educational institution.)
- REFERENCES
Instead of listing names of references, simply state, "References are available upon request."
